Community Warning System and Evacuation Drill

Our friend representing many of us on the Richmond City Council, Soheila Bana, is alerting all of us about the Community Warning System, and Richmond city residents about the upcoming Evacuation Drill on Saturday May 30.

Paraphrasing her message, these are efforts to: (a) ensure you are informed about emergency alerts and prepared to evacuate, and (b) exercise and improve how our alert systems and responder agencies operate at scale and in collaboration.

The Community Warning System (CWS) is an all-hazards public emergency notification system designed to quickly alert residents of imminent threats to life or health.

Richmond Office of Emergency Services will share additional information in the lead-up to the drill—including your evacuation zone, Red Flag warning and pre-evacuation guidance, go-bag essentials, and more.

Water Storage Barrels are Back!

Triangle Works has a small batch of 55-gallon water storage barrels for sale. Purchase them at The Shed for $30 (or trade a working adult bicycle). Use these food-safe barrels for emergency water storage or irrigation purposes.
