Four Triangle Works members met with property owner representatives and staff from the California Legislative Analyst’s Office, Department of Toxic Substance Control and the Center for Creative Land Recycling late last month to participate in a tour and presentation of the owners’ progress for site remediation that will eventually lead to site re-use.
The property owner is preparing next steps that will likely include some site demolition and removal or abatement of low-level toxins in the soil beneath the former dry cleaning business and parking lot. Ultimately, the property owners hope that the site will provide affordable residential housing.
Triangle Works is actively continuing its formal and informal inputs on behalf of the local community to the parties involved. We could use a few more people in our effort to ensure that the ultimate design of the Land between Fran Way and Shirley Vista provides maximum benefit to the Triangle Area and its new and existing residents. In particular, we could use people with background in urban and open space planning, site design, regulation and public review.
Contact Serge@triangleworks.org and tell us about your interests in this project, and if you have any particular background in fields relevant to this sort of site development. The fate of this property has the potential to make or break our long-term vision of turning the Sobrante Triangle area into a special place.
